On March 23rd, Duan Peng, President of Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU), held talks with Andreas Floros, President of Ionian University in Greece. Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on matters such as deepening educational cooperation and promoting the implementation of projects.
Duan Peng noted that the construction of the Greek Sinology Center has achieved remarkable results, and the joint establishment of the Chinese Department by the Chinese Research Institute of BLCU and the Chinese Program of Ionian University has a good foundation. Both sides can promote the construction of the Greek branch of BLCU on this basis, and encourage Chinese professors to teach in Greece and Greek scholars to exchange ideas at BLCU. The joint doctoral program between the two universities has received positive public feedback, and in the future, cooperation and innovative models can be further deepened to build a more efficient and flexible cooperation system, supporting talent cultivation and discipline construction for both universities.
Andreas Floros acknowledged the pragmatic and efficient cooperation achievements between the two universities,endorsed the proposed initiatives for developing the Chinese language program and establishing a branch campus, and expressed his willingness to cooperate with BLCU to implement various cooperation matters.
After the talks, President Duan Peng and President Floros jointly signed a memorandum of academic cooperation. The two sides reached consensus on the operation of the Sinology Center, joint talent training, teacher exchange, joint discipline development, cultural exchange and other issues. They will take the signing of the agreement as an opportunity to speed up the implementation of the project, deepen academic exchanges, and jointly build a Sino-Greek educational and cultural exchange platform.
