The Capital International Communication and Guidance Center for Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture was established in December 2023 through a collaboration between the Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Beijing Language and Culture University. It aims to promote the overseas dissemination of outstanding traditional Chinese culture and build an international platform for the global spread of Traditional Chinese Medicine culture.
The main work of the Capital Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture International Communication Guidance Center includes two aspects:
First, establish communication standards. By leveraging projects such as advanced training workshops and intangible cultural heritage training, we will study the "specialization, professionalism, and expertise" characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and formulate "principles, rules, and standards" that align with international communication. This will help build a hierarchical and digital international communication system for TCM culture in the capital.
Second, cultivating professional talents. We will integrate the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) resources in the capital and the language education advantages of Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU), combine multilingual translations of TCM classics, and send personnel abroad for publicity. We will support BLCU in establishing TCM-related majors and training courses for international students and setting up a TCM cultural experience base. We will jointly cultivate five types of talents, including "health managers and cultural communicators," implement a hierarchical evaluation system of "masters, mentors, and lecturers," and build a high-end team.
Since its establishment, the center has conducted a total of 50 experiential activities, providing training to 1,655 participants. Among these, 32 sessions were organized for international groups, with 794 participants. The center has completed research on "Exploring the Dissemination of Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Among International Students in China," approved by the Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 2025, it secured one scientific research project funded by the Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
