Chinese Female Literature Studies is published by Beijing Language and Culture University. It was founded in 2019 by Professor Yan Chunde, who also serves as its editor-in-chief. The journal's title calligraphy was created by Mr. Mao Dun in 1977.

Chinese Female Literature Studies is, to date, the only academic journal specifically dedicated to the study of Chinese women writers and the publication of research on women's literature. With an inclusive academic spirit that embraces diverse perspectives, the journal is aimed at both domestic and international audiences. It primarily publishes scholarly articles offering in-depth research on modern and contemporary Chinese women writers, while also including studies by Chinese scholars and international Sinologists on Chinese women writers and poets, both ancient and modern. Additionally, it publishes comparative studies of Chinese and foreign women's literature and theory, with the goal of promoting the prosperity and flourishing of both women's writing and women's literary studies in China.

With an open, inclusive, and innovative approach, Chinese Female Literature Studies will not only advance the study of classic writers and their works but also pay attention to research on younger writers and the discovery of emerging scholars. It will also focus on unearthing and rediscovering the works of numerous women writers who have been obscured by history and time. Simultaneously, it will engage with contemporary issues and the forefront of academic research. This is to ensure the journal possesses both academic depth and scholarly dynamism, establishing it as the first and a foremost journal for women's literature studies in the Chinese literary research community, while striving to become an academic journal with international influence.

Chinese Female Literature Studies is published in book form, with two issues released annually. Each issue contains approximately 650,000 Chinese characters. It is published by Writers Publishing House and distributed both in China and internationally. The journal's regular sections include: Distinguished Scholars' Forum; Distinguished Scholars' Column; Forum on the History of Women's Literature; On Writers and Their Works; Writers' Creative Masterclass; Interviews with Writers; Chinese Women's Literature from a Sinological Perspective; Studies on Women Writers from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, and Overseas Chinese Communities; and Studies on Women Poets.
