Sinology Messenger is an academic journal sponsored by the Center for Translation and Dissemination of Chinese Culture, co-established by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). Amidst increasingly frequent international academic exchanges, Sinology (Chinese Studies) and its further exploration have entered a new phase. With a global perspective as its editorial direction, Sinology Messenger aims to leverage the expertise of scholars from China and abroad to introduce recent overseas Sinology achievements to Chinese-speaking readers under the principle of academic sharing. After several years of operation, Sinology Messenger has gained significant influence in academic circles.
Founded in 2016, Sinology Messenger is published annually. Its column structure centers on three key themes—Sinology research, translation studies, and cross-cultural exchange—spanning historical and contemporary dimensions, thereby establishing its distinct identity among other journals. The main columns include: 1. Academic papers by international Sinologists on the history of Sinology and cross-cultural interactions; 2. Reviews and outlooks on emerging trends in Sinology research across countries, as well as analyses and commentaries on contemporary Sinology and Chinese Studies; 3. Studies on translation history, dissemination of Chinese texts, and comparative studies; 4. Biographical reviews and interviews with Sinologists and translators; 5. Book reviews, news, and prefaces on Sinology works and translated books, alongside introductions and evaluations of Sinology activities, journals, institutions, and publications worldwide.
Sinology Messenger is dedicated to leading academic frontiers, building an academic brand, and promoting international scholarly exchange, actively aligning with China’s strategy to promote Chinese culture globally. The journal prioritizes digital platform development, maintaining an active WeChat Official Account and being fully indexed in the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), fostering the integration and innovation of traditional publishing with new media while advancing the sharing of academic resources.
