The Journal of International and Regional Studies is a comprehensive academic journal published by Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU), focusing on the study of country-specific and regional issues. Guided by the development of Regional and Country Studies as a discipline, the journal adheres to an editorial policy emphasizing theoretical rigor, intellectual depth, strategic insight, comprehensiveness, and relevance to contemporary issues. Established under the support of the Ministry of Education and with the endorsement of Party and state leaders, the Journal of International and Regional Studies is a national project born amidst China’s rapid rise and the global convergence of diverse cultures. It is a distinctive academic publication in China, dedicated to supporting the Belt and Road Initiative, fostering the development of new think tanks in higher education, facilitating disciplinary transformation, and nurturing talent in Regional and Country Studies.
Founded in 2016, the Journal of International and Regional Studies benefits from BLCU’s pioneering establishment of the Institute of Country and Regional Studies and its designation as one of the first universities to offer Regional and Country Studies as a first-level discipline. In December 2021, Regional and Country Studies was officially recognized as a first-level discipline under the category of Interdisciplinary Studies, marking new opportunities for its development in China. Leveraging BLCU’s Institute of Country and Regional Studies and Arab Research Center, the journal demonstrates clear academic strengths and distinctive characteristics. Since April 2021, it has been included in the Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) journal catalogue, and since March 2023, it has been recognized as a Core Journal in the AMI Comprehensive Evaluation of Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences Journals for two consecutive years.
