Chinese Teaching in the World is a core linguistics journal supervised by the Ministry of Education of China and published by Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). It serves as the official journal of the World Chinese Language Teaching Society. The journal’s mission is to “promptly showcase the latest theoretical research in Chinese language teaching worldwide, share practical teaching experiences from around the globe, lead innovation and application in second language teaching theory, and advance the development of international Chinese education as a discipline and profession.” Adhering to a rigorous double-blind peer-review process, the journal upholds academic standards, integrity, and fairness, prioritizing the publication of original, cutting-edge, and pioneering theoretical research as well as applied research with broad practical value. The current editor-in-chief is Professor Bo Zhang.
Founded in September 1987, Chinese Teaching in the World is an internationally recognized, high-level academic platform in the field of teaching Chinese as a second language, enjoying extensive influence both in China and abroad. It is a journal funded by the National Social Science Fund of China (since 2012), a Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index (CSSCI) source journal, and an “A-level Authoritative Journal” in the AMI Comprehensive Evaluation of Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences Journals (since 2014). From 2013 to 2021, it was recognized nine consecutive times as one of “China’s Most Internationally Influential Academic Journals,” and from 2022 to 2024, it was listed three consecutive times as an “Outstanding Chinese Journal with International Influence.” Published quarterly, Chinese Teaching in the World features regular columns on Chinese Language Studies and Chinese Teaching and Learning Studies, with a special column on Innovation and Development in International Chinese Education in the New Era. The journal primarily publishes articles in Chinese, with select articles in English.
