On the afternoon of June 15, 2026, Vice President Zhang Baojun of Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) met with a delegation headed by Ms. Constance Nasi, Chief Executive Officer of the Solomon Islands Higher Education and Skills Development Authority, on the afternoon of June 15.

During the meeting, Vice President Zhang gave a comprehensive introduction to BLCU’s history and educational philosophy. He highlighted that the university has devoted over six decades to international Chinese language education, having cultivated more than 300,000 international students from 189 countries and regions—a figure that places BLCU first among Chinese higher education institutions in terms of both student enrollment and country coverage. He also noted that BLCU offers a broad spectrum of training programs and degree-granting courses, and has established a number of Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms overseas. Drawing on its mature system and rich experience in Chinese language instruction, Vice President Zhang expressed the university’s willingness to leverage its distinctive strengths to expand educational cooperation across multiple fields with the Solomon Islands.
Ms. Constance Nasi, in turn, provided a detailed overview of the current educational landscape in the Solomon Islands. She emphasized the rapidly growing demand for Chinese language learning in her country, with many local schools already offering Chinese courses. Looking ahead, she expressed hope for strengthened collaboration with BLCU in language teaching and cultural exchange through such modalities as dispatching Chinese teachers and delivering online instruction. She underscored that cultivating more Chinese-proficient talents would serve as a powerful bridge for fostering enduring friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
The two sides engaged in productive discussions and shared a common vision for future partnership. The meeting was also attended by representatives from BLCU’s Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the Office of International Students.
