On the afternoon of March 13, Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) held the 2025 Wutong Education Award and Wutong Student Award Ceremony.
Duan Peng, President of Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU)， quoted from The Book of Songs: “The phoenix sings, on the lofty ridge; the wutong tree grows, facing the morning sun.” He noted that the term “Wutong” embodies the university’s vision of embracing talents and reflects the open, inclusive and excellence-oriented spirit of the BLCU community.
The establishment of the Wutong Education Award and Wutong Student Award aims to commend faculty who devote themselves to talent cultivation, academic research, and administrative services, as well as students who are eager for knowledge, bold in innovation, and shine on international platforms and in campus culture. It also serves as an inspiring benchmark for the whole university, encouraging all faculty, staff and students to strive for greater achievements and make greater contributions to the university’s development.
BLCU President Duan Peng pointed out that the university’s achievements over the past two years would not have been possible without the diligent efforts of all faculty and students. He expressed hope that all award-winning teachers, students, teaching and research units, and functional departments would seize this opportunity to striving for the university’s continued success. He also encouraged all faculty, staff and students to follow the examples of the awardees, devote themselves to the university’s development and their own studies, and contribute more to the university’s rapid development.
At the end of 2025, the university initiated the selection process for the Wutong Education Award and Wutong Student Award to commend outstanding faculty and students, foster a proactive and dedicated atmosphere, and cultivate a sense of university pride. A total of 185 students received the Wutong Student Award, including 10 recipients of the Wutong President’s Award. Meanwhile, 51 faculty members received the Wutong Education Award for Individuals, and 15 teams were granted the Wutong Education Award for Groups.
The university will introduce more policies to ensure that the fruits of development benefit teachers and students more extensively, enhancing their sense of well-being and fulfillment.
