The Research Center for Pacific Island Countries at Beijing Language and Culture University, established in 2017, is a Ministry of Education-approved center for country and regional studies. It focuses on conducting in-depth and systematic research across various fields such as education, humanities, economy, and politics, with a particular emphasis on the ten Pacific Island countries that have established diplomatic relations with China—Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, Micronesia, the Cook Islands, Niue, the Solomon Islands, and Kiribati (while also covering New Zealand).
Since its establishment, the center has consistently adhered to serving national strategies. Focusing on the current state, history, and future prospects of education in Pacific Island countries, it has actively submitted policy advisory reports to the Ministry of Education and relevant national authorities, contributing to China's educational decision-making and policy formulation for the Pacific Island region. Since its inception, the policy advisory achievements submitted by the center have repeatedly received instructions from provincial and ministerial-level leaders and above, achieving significant social impact.
