The Italian Research Center, established in 2017, is a Ministry of Education registered center for country and regional studies. It has long been engaged in Italian studies and is one of the earliest specialized institutions dedicated to Italian research in China's higher education system. As an interdisciplinary platform, the center integrates Chinese and Italian research resources, with its research areas covering politics, economy, culture, society, science and technology, among others.

Since its establishment, the Italian Research Center has completed several research reports, including "Report on Italy's China Policy and Sino-Italian Relations," "Study on the Current Status and Future Learning and Service Needs of Chinese Language Learning in Italy," "The Formation and Impact of the Italian Socialist Party's China Policy (1949-1969)," "A Preliminary Study of Sino-Italian Relations and Exchanges in the 1950s and 1960s," "Research on the Economy of Southern Italy," "Study on Italy's Language Policy," and "Research on the Status and Strategies of Chinese Language Teaching in Italy."

The Italian Research Center organized a series of thematic lectures: inviting the Cultural Counsellor of the Italian Embassy in China to deliver a special report on Italian opera culture; inviting Chinese Foreign Ministry expert Bi Jiangshan to present a special report on current social issues in Italy; inviting Maurizio Viezzi, President of the International Association of Universities in Translation and Interpreting, to give a special report; and inviting renowned Italian journalist Beppe Severgnini, acclaimed writer Gabriele di Fronzo, distinguished Italian scholar Federico Castigliano, and prominent Italian translator Patrizia Liberati, among others, to deliver special reports.

Since its establishment, the center has published three books and over ten journal articles, demonstrating significant research achievements.

For undergraduate students, courses such as "Italian National Studies" have been established and offered.

The center emphasizes the integration of industry, academia, and research, and has repeatedly provided language services and policy consultation to enterprises, institutions, and governments.
