The CEE Research Center is a country and area studies center filed with the Ministry of Education of China in 2017. The Center has long been committed to studying the political situation and foreign policies of Central and Eastern European countries, especially the development of relations between China and CEE countries. It conducts forward-looking and targeted theoretical and policy research to serve the national development and rejuvenation strategy and promote mutual understanding and cooperation between China and CEE countries. The Center aims to become a new think tank with a clear focus, distinctive features, and a balanced approach to both theoretical and policy research.
Since its establishment in 2017, the Central and Eastern Europe Research Center has prioritized building a lean and capable research team. Currently, it employs 20 researchers, including 9 with senior professional titles, 5 with associate senior titles, and 6 with intermediate titles, forming a complete academic hierarchy. Secondly, the center has achieved fruitful results in academic research and policy studies, undertaking 16 provincial and ministerial-level research projects, including 2 major national projects, 4 general national projects, 1 major provincial and ministerial-level project, and 9 general provincial and ministerial-level projects. It has published 63 papers, including 3 in SSCI-indexed journals, 44 in CSSCI-indexed journals, and 5 in nationally recognized Chinese core journals. Additionally, the center has completed 18 policy reports and published 5 monographs. Thirdly, it has established branded academic activities such as the "China Road Grand Lecture" and the "Ambassadors' View on the World" lecture series, while also hosting high-level academic conferences like the "Belt and Road Initiative and China-CEEC Cooperation."
