The Research Base for Educational Evaluation Reform (Beijing Language and Culture University), established by the Ministry of Education in March 2024, is a research institution set up to implement the "Overall Plan for Deepening Educational Evaluation Reform in the New Era."

The Research Base for Educational Evaluation Reform focuses on comprehensively advancing Chinese modernization. Centered on the theme of "building a strong education nation and the role of evaluation reform," it conducts research on key, challenging, hot, and bottleneck issues in educational evaluation reform. It strives to tackle the fundamental problems hindering the development of a strong education nation and actively contributes to accelerating the establishment of a multi-stakeholder participatory, practically aligned with China’s realities, and world-class educational evaluation system.

The research base leverages Beijing Language and Culture University’s strengths in internationalized education, focusing on key issues such as "professionalization of educational evaluation" and "internationalization of educational evaluation." It conducts comprehensive, practical, and policy-oriented international comparative studies to provide advisory suggestions and decision-making support for the deepening of reforms. Centered on driving educational evaluation reform, it delves into the connotation and implementation pathways of comprehensive educational reforms, including teaching methods, school operation models, management systems, and support mechanisms. The base engages in theoretical research and practical applications, systematically tracks international education reform cases and hot topics, builds interactive sharing platforms, promotes reform achievements, and plays a demonstrative and leading role in advancing the deepening and implementation of educational evaluation reform and comprehensive educational reform.

The research base has been proactive in scientific research, discipline development, and talent cultivation. It has undertaken several major research projects commissioned by the Comprehensive Reform Department and the International Department of the Ministry of Education, the China Scholarship Council, the China Education Association for International Exchange, and the Center for Language Education and Cooperation. It has successfully hosted multiple industry-leading academic events, such as the "Chinese Language Testing Summit" and the "Expert Forum on Educational Evaluation and Governance." Team members have led over ten national and ministerial-level research projects, nearly 30 other types of research projects, published more than 100 papers, authored 16 books, and produced 57 advisory reports adopted by relevant authorities. The base established the first "Educational Evaluation and Governance" program in China, cultivating 107 master's and doctoral students. These students have published over 50 papers, received 20 university-level innovation fund projects, two National Scholarships, five university-level outstanding graduation theses, and five Beijing Outstanding Graduate awards.
