Journal of Language Planning is a biannual academic journal published by Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU), co-sponsored by the Center for Chinese Language Standards and Norms, the Secretariat of the National Emergency Language Service Corps, and the Center for Applied Studies of Chinese Ethnic Languages. The current editor-in-chief is Professor Yuming Li.
Founded in 2015, Journal of Language Planning is published by the China Social Sciences Press and fully indexed in the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI).The journal publishes research papers related to language policy and planning, with distinctive strengths in areas such as Chinese language standards and norms, studies on neighboring languages and cultures, applied research on ethnic languages, and emergency language services. Aligned with key academic activities in language planning, the journal has launched special issues and columns, including the “60th Anniversary of the Pinyin Scheme,” the “First Cross-Strait Symposium on Chinese Character Studies,” the “Standards for Foreign Language Translation in Public Services,” and the “Language Planning in Language Education.” These initiatives have achieved significant impact.
