On the afternoon of December 15, President Duan Peng met with Ambassador Farhod Arziev of the Republic of Uzbekistan to China in Room 906 of the Comprehensive Building.
President Duan Peng first extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Farhod Arziev and introduced BLCU's history, distinctive features, and development plans. He emphasized that BLCU attaches great importance to educational cooperation with Uzbekistan, noting that he led a delegation to Uzbekistan in September and hopes to expand cooperation in areas such as international Chinese education, world Sinology research, and joint schooling.
Ambassador Farhod Arziev thanked President Duan Peng for the warm reception and introduced the current state of education in Uzbekistan. He proposed suggestions and prospects for advancing cooperation with BLCU in international Chinese education, training of Chinese translators, co-establishing Confucius Institutes, and setting up a branch campus. Ambassador Farhod Arziev warmly invited President Duan Peng to attend the China-Uzbekistan University Presidents Forum in 2024.
President Duan Peng affirmed and supported Ambassador Farhod Arziev's proposals, stating that BLCU is willing to serve as a bridge of friendship for China-Uzbekistan cultural exchanges, actively implementing student exchanges with Uzbek universities, jointly establishing Confucius Institutes, and setting up a BLCU branch campus. He welcomes Uzbek officials and managers of Chinese enterprises in Uzbekistan to the university for training and exchanges. He hopes the University Presidents Forum can be hosted at BLCU, with the university fully supporting China-Uzbekistan cultural exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.
Director Dong Chuan of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Dean Xu Baofeng of the Belt and Road Academy, Dean Wu Yinghui of the International Chinese Education Research Institute, and Deputy Director Cui Dongni of the International Student Admissions Office participated in the meeting.
