In the mid-summer, we encounter the most beautiful green mountains and clear waters!
On May 26, a group of 38 teachers and students from the International Chinese Language Institute of Beijing Language and Culture University traveled to Zhejiang to carry out the annual long-distance language practice activity. The teachers and students first visited the historic and cultural city of Suzhou, touring the Humble Administrator's Garden and Hanshan Temple, which they had learned about in class. They conducted on-site investigations of the characteristics of ancient Chinese architecture and experienced the beauty of ancient Chinese construction and gardens.
Afterwards, the students arrived at the site of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China—the Red Boat in Jiaxing—where they received a vivid lesson on China's history and national conditions.
On May 29, the students arrived at Yucun Village in Huzhou with immense excitement, embarking on a journey to explore "green mountains and clear waters"! Yucun is the birthplace of the "Two Mountains Theory." Following the path guided by President Xi Jinping, they pursued development from top to bottom, transforming green mountains and clear waters into mountains of gold and silver!
Here, the international students were divided into groups to visit local farmhouses, engage in discussions and exchanges with villagers, and listen to the local residents recount the story of how Yucun, under the kind care of President Xi Jinping, transformed from barren mountains and polluted waters into green mountains and clear waters, and then turned those green mountains and clear waters into gold.
The international students from the International Chinese Language Institute conducted on-site study of the "Two Mountains Theory," experiencing the tremendous changes brought by the new development concepts to rural revitalization, and marveling at the profound power of the truth that "green mountains and clear waters are as valuable as mountains of gold and silver."
The teachers and students from the International Chinese Language Institute followed in the footsteps of President Xi Jinping, gaining a profound understanding of the dialectical unity between ecological environmental protection and economic development, as learned in the "Understanding Contemporary China" course. They achieved a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding and insight into Chinese theory and practice.
"In May, the pomegranate flowers dazzle the eyes, and on the branches, one can see the young fruits beginning to form." At the turn of spring and summer, full of vitality, the language practice for teachers and students from the International Chinese Language Institute yielded abundant harvests and was a complete success.
