On April 20, the launch ceremony of the 2026 International Chinese Language Day and the “Poetry Across the Seas” Global Chinese Poetry Gathering was held in Beijing. Sun Yao, National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and former Vice Minister of Education, attended the event and delivered a keynote speech. The university organized international students from nearly 30 countries across Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America, together with Chinese students, to participate in the event. Through immersive experiences and interactive activities, students explored the charm of the Chinese language and deepened cultural exchanges between China and other countries.

Centered on the theme “Chinese Language: Illuminating Diverse Dreams,” the event combined traditional culture with cutting-edge technological applications. At the “Poetry Fair,” students took part in poetry-themed challenges and interactive games, appreciating the rhythmic beauty of classical Chinese poetry in a lively atmosphere. In the exhibition area, participants experienced AI-powered Chinese language learning tools and interacted with digital language partners. They also engaged closely with traditional Chinese culture through activities such as visiting a peony culture exhibition, trying on Hanfu, and making scented sachets. In addition, the event featured two special lectures on literature and technology, highlighting the diverse value of the Chinese language in the new era from the perspectives of youth literary creation and large language model technology.

The International Chinese Language Day activities not only showcased the vitality of international Chinese language education, but also promoted dialogue and mutual learning among different civilizations, providing an effective platform for cultural exchange for both Chinese and international students at our university. Participating students expressed that they would continue to use the Chinese language as a bridge to share the beauty of the language and the richness of Chinese culture with the world.
