BLCU Chinese and International Students Discuss the Path to Becoming Outstanding Global Ambassadors of Chinese Language

Recently, Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) held an exchange activity entitled “Knowledge and Action in Unity, Bridging China and the World — How to Become an Outstanding Global Ambassador of Chinese Language”. President Duan Peng met with more than 30 Chinese and international graduate students to discuss the mission and responsibilities of international Chinese language education.

President Duan Peng noted that the university has achieved remarkable breakthroughs in graduate education for international Chinese language education: doctoral enrollment has doubled, and recruitment for professional doctoral programs and newly established professional master’s programs has had a successful launch; the university has maintained a 100% pass rate in national quality reviews doctoral dissertations for six consecutive years and a 100% pass rate in master’s dissertations for five consecutive years; two doctoral dissertations have been selected for the National Social Science Fund Post-Grant Fund and Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Publication Program, and two graduate students have been listed among the National Scholarship winners by People’s Daily. The university is fully advancing the “Double First-Class” initiative, with international Chinese language education as its core priority.

The event consisted of three sessions.In “Rooting · Classroom”, the “Chinese Teaching Heroes” team shared their growth in teaching, the “Juzi APP” team demonstrated how technology empowers Chinese learning, and doctoral student Jin Shuaihu shared his experience of teaching overseas. In “Blooming · Practice”, the volunteer teaching team from Du’an, Guangxi shared their stories of volunteer teaching, which deeply impressed international students; representatives from teaching internships in Hainan witnessed BLCU’s development along the South China Sea coast.In “Echo · Value”, students presented their career plans and teaching practice achievements.

At the end of the event, President Duan Peng offered words of encouragement to Chinese and international students:

Root yourselves in the classroom and deepen your professional knowledge;

Dare to practice and apply your research across the motherland and in classrooms around the world;

Keep in mind the strategic priorities of the country, connect the world through the Chinese language, and bridge hearts and minds through cultural exchange.
