The Harvard Beijing Academy Held the Opening Ceremony | ||||||||

On June 7, the opening ceremony of Eleventh “Harvard Beijing Academy (HBA)” hosted by BLCU Training Institute Chinese Department was held successfully at the hall of Yifu Building. 100 students from Harvard, Yale and other Ivy League universities, 17 Harvard teachers and over 40 HBA intern teachers who mainly come from BLCU Humanities Institute attended the opening ceremony. Liu Wei, the Deputy Secretary of BLCU, expressed her warm welcome for Harvard students and teachers. She hoped that students can quickly adapt to the life in China, learn Chinese and quickly raise their level of Chinese, and she also expressed ardent hope for them to become the messager of friendship between China and the United States. The site director of HBA teacher Li Yun expressed her sincere gratitude to BLCU on behalf of the Harvard part. In the activities, all the American students participated in the project signed the “Chinese Pledge”, which means that in the next two months of campus life in Beijing they can only speak Mandarin. Founded in 2005, HBA Program is a high-end Chinese learning project jointly established by Beijing Language and Culture University and Harvard University and more than 1000 Harvard and Yale and Ivy League university students have participated in this project. HBA Program has important significance for improving the brand effect of our university, expanding influence and spreading Chinese culture. |
